First of all, congratulations on your arriving little one! I am delighted that you are thinking of choosing SugaShoc Photography to photograph your new bundle of joy. Newborn Photography is my Passion. It is why I started my photography journey in the first place. Newborns are only newborns for a very short period of time. Capture and remember those tiny, beautiful moments as soon as possible before the moment passes forever. Newborn Photography is such a rewarding job, because I get to help capture these first precious moments for my clients.

When should I book my baby’s Newborn Session? 

I usually schedule my newborn sessions based on your due date. I only accept 2 newborns a week so as to allow for plenty of flexibility if baby decides to come earlier or later. Because of this reason, I like to schedule my newborns as soon as possible. The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are between 2-3 weeks of age. After this small window, babies are a little harder to settle and those sweet, sleepy, curly poses can be more difficult to achieve. This doesn’t mean I don’t photograph babies older than 14 days, as I will gladly photograph your little love at any age.

Prior to Session

Once you are booked, please keep in touch with me as your due date approaches and keep me aware of any changes during your pregnancy. Please call, text, or email me when your baby is born and once you get home from the hospital, contact me to set up a date for you and your family to come to the studio and document this beautiful stage of your lives! I work with you to create a custom session for your newborn, so as soon as you have baby’s nursery decorated, please send me a picture of baby’s nursery so I can plan on color coordinating. Please also take a look at my Blog and send me links to pictures of the props and setups that you would like me to have set up for your session.

What should I expect during my Newborn Session?

Newborn Sessions are never rushed and usually last between 2-3 hours. This allows for plenty of time for extra feedings, burping, and soothing. Babies are all very different and some may sleep the entire session, while others may take a bit more soothing throughout the session. I am well-seasoned at getting the little ones to soothe and go to sleep, so please don’t worry about how your baby will be during the session.

The studio is usually kept between 80-85 degrees which babies absolutely love and that keeps them comfortable throughout the session. A white noise machine is constantly played to help lull baby into a deep sleep. I have an extensive collection of outfits, headbands, hats, blankets and props to create beautiful images that you will treasure for many years to come. Every session is custom styled to your tastes so we will be discussing colors and types of props that appeal to you prior to your session. If you have any special outfits or items you would like your little one to use in a photo please feel free to bring them I will happily incorporate them into a set-up for you. This Newborn Session is for you and I want these photos to be everything you want them to be.

You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to give me an estimated due date. I will then make a tentative booking, and when you arrive home from the hospital with your brand new baby, please contact me to arrange a suitable day and time for your session. Newborn photography sessions can take 2-4 hours, allowing enough time for feeding and comforting.
