Baby Hunter Newborn Session – Newborn Photographer Bucks County PA | Doylestown PA Photographer

Being a Newborn Photographer, one of the hardest parts of my job is getting the little ones soothed to sleep so I can take all those adorable sleeping poses. I have many tricks up my sleeve that usually keep the babies peacefully asleep. But every once in a while I get a little client who just does not want to succumb to my baby magic and wants to give me a challenge. Here’s a peek into Baby Hunter Newborn Session.

Baby Hunter Newborn Session

Little Hunter came in just a few days old, as most of my newborn clients do.  He was absolutely adorable and I was looking forward to photographing his newborn session. Unfortunately, he did not want to cooperate as well as I had hoped. He was a non-sleeper and as much as I tried, would not fall asleep. He also did not enjoy being touched or moved, which made it harder to pose. The only thing that did soothe him was being constantly nursed by his mother. As time ticked on, she was worried that we would only have a few images from Baby Hunter Newborn session, and most of them would be of Hunter crying.

Even though he didn’t want to sleep, I got a ton of cute shots of him awake.  I always love incorporating personal items into the set-ups. His Dad was a Penn State fan, so of course he needed the obligatory shot in Blue and White with the little football.  Turns out everyone else was a huge Steelers fan in Hunter’s family.  We got a kick out of posing him with the little Steelers blanket because Hunter must take after his Dad and may be, not a huge fan of the team. I tried several poses with the blanket, but little Hunter was not having it.  So we just decided to take the shot with Hunter crying because it summed up his feelings toward the entire newborn session.

One of the sweetest things the family brought was this antique sock monkey Hunter’s Great Grandma made for Hunter’s Dad! I just HAD to get the shot for them. Hunter did not want to sleep so I wrapped him up and propped him up on the antique wooden rocking chair to pose with his Dad’s baby toy. It is so incredible to see small things being passed down for generations, that mean so so much! It may not be perfectly posed, but it is one of my favorite shots because it means something to them…..

Eventually, after a lot of nursing, soothing, and wrapping, we were able to get him off to sleep and put him in some cute set-ups.  Check out more of my set-ups in my Portfolio.  I just love him sleeping on my wooden bucket while wearing the knit hat with the ears! Hunter looks like a little, baby bear.  I also adore the last shot we got to him sleeping in the wooden crate. Just look at the little smile we got out of him – priceless! You would never know from seeing these pictures how much trouble he gave me! Thank goodness he is cute!

Loving Neutral Tones for my Newborn Sessions – Newborn Photographer Bucks County PA | Doylestown PA Photographer

When someone thinks of a baby, the first colors that come to their mind are blue and pink.  Although these colors are great and my studio is full of wraps and props in all hues, I have to say that I am currently obsessed with using neutral tones for my newborn photo shoots. White, cream, gray, brown and beige have been my latest “go to” and I am loving the resulting photos!

Neutral Tones

One of the best parts of my job is creating beautiful set-ups for each photograph. My studio is full of blankets, wraps, headbands, and props to create images that my clients will treasure for many years to come. I want my photos to tell a story, as well as show off the beauty of my subjects.  I have found by using neutral tones, I let the cuteness of my littlest clients shine by showing off their dreamy complexions. Check out my Pinterest page to see all my latest set-ups.

Clients don’t have to be apprehensive about choosing neutral tones over more traditional colors. I have found the trick to working with neutral tones is to use lots of layers. By using wraps, throws, and props of different materials in my set-ups, I can create depth in my photos.  Soft, natural materials like cotton, wool and fur add a wonderful touch to the looks as well.  Props like my adorable beds, stools, antique crates, and buckets help to create rustically memorable photos. I love using my new Dolly prop from Handmadedolls DE and my beds from The Original Photoblocks Props and Rozzi Rayne Studio Props. Take a look at the photos below and see how my use of neutral tones really brings out the exquisite skin tones of my newborns.

The 3D-4D Ultrasound Experience – Bucks County PA

Elective 3D-4D ultrasound sessions are becoming more popular for expecting families. You may wonder “Why should I get one?” or “What is it all about?”

Having a baby is one of the most special times in our life, and there are many emotions felt by every member of the family. Because I feel so strongly about getting a 3D-4D ultrasound done, I have partnered with Bond Before Birth to spread the word on what the ultrasound experience can bring to your family.

Bringing the family together for a 3D-4D ultrasound helps each person bond with the baby before baby is even born. A 3D-4D ultrasound can benefit the family in many ways. It can make the pregnancy more real, it can be reassuring for parents to see baby, or it can be a chance for siblings to meet their little brother or sister. The bonding session is a wonderful family activity and it makes the family even more excited to meet the baby in person!

At Bond Before Birth 3D-4D Ultrasound, their scanning room is set up with comfortable seating for up to 8 guests.  Their warm gel and carefully selected playlist creates a soothing environment. Each session is performed by a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer licensed in OB/GYN Ultrasound.  They are trained to recognize if anything of concern should be discussed with your doctor.

At Bond Before Birth, they understand that families have crazy schedules, and have some evening and weekend appointments available.  They have affordable packages available for 11 – 34 weeks gestation. To find out more about them, and to find a package that is right for you, visit their website, call (267) 334-1233, or email [email protected]

Newborn and Puppies – Bucks County PA | Doylestown PA Photographer

Photographing a newborn with newborn puppies has always been a dream of mine and I could not believe that I actually got to do it! I mean, who doesn’t love newborns and puppies? Double the cute factor. And when the newborn baby girl gave me the biggest smile of her entire session, I felt that I had died and gone to photographer heaven.

Her parents are long time clients and I photographed her older brother who is now almost 3! Each time they’ve wanted to bring in their own dogs to their newborn session but both times, they were worried that the doggies not behave. So when I offered to photograph their baby girl with newborn puppies, they jumped at the chance.

For some reason, baby girl was feeling feisty and I was wondering if things would go as planned. I don’t know if it was the warmth or the weight of the puppies, because as soon as I laid the puppies onto the newborn baby girl, she slept like a dream! It was such a beautiful and wonderful experience that we are now partnering with Crossfield Doodles to offer this as an extra add on to your newborn session. Please contact us if you would like to add this onto your newborn session and we can discuss your options.

I did a very fun project with newborns last Christmas. Want to see my Newborns As Naughty Elves shoot? Click here.

Newborn Photographer Bucks County PA | Doylestown, PA

Newborns are all so different and each session is different. I love my job because every day is a different adventure for me. Not knowing what to expect and what kind of personality the newborn has. This little guy was hilarious. He wanted his feet a certain way each time and every time I went to curl his feet up against his body, he would kick it out again. Mom told me that he did that all the time and she loved it so I captured it as much as I could. Isn’t he adorable???
