Pout Pout Fish Cake Smash

I had so much fun on this Pout Pout Fish Themed Cake Smash Session! I love all my cake smashes because what is better than seeing the joy on a little kid’s face as they get all sugared up. It’s extra special for me when it’s with my maternity clients, who turn into newborn clients, and then are grow with me baby plan clients. I get to see Mom, baby and the whole family go through the amazing journey that is the first year!

Turning 1 is Fun

The cake smash is the main event but given that one 1 year olds typically tear into cake, I like to do some shots in an alternate set up first, so that they are nice and clean. This handsome little man made my job easy. He smiled and looked right at the lens for all his poses (well at least most of them lol).

For a few of the shots we went for a more neutral setting with wooden cars, a tree stump, and of course a carved number 1 to mark the occasion.

His Mom also had the brilliant idea of adding this adorable row boat into the mix to go perfectly with the pout pout fish theme.

On to the main event

I like to add layers to my cake smash setups to give the photos depth. The blue and turquoise balloons, streamers and paper fans did the trick. They give a sense of whimsy while still allowing this cool little man and his awesome pout pout fishy cake to be the focal point.

Rub a Dub Dub

I recently starting offering an additional bath tub setup for cake smashes, and it has been a huge hit! What better way to end a messy session than with a fun dip in the tub. At 1 year old, kids have the bath time thing down and love splashing. It certainly shows.
