I love in studio maternity sessions. The light in my studio creates a beautiful backlit subject and I can just concentrate on capturing the emotions of the mother to be and the dad to be. I like to focus on capturing their connection to each other, their connection to their baby, their love and excitement for the newborn to come. It’s like freezing time for them and it gives them something to look at and to remember when their little one grows up.
I wish I had maternity pictures of my mother to look at. It would have been a great momento to have. It wasn’t the thing back then to capture the beautiful maternal figure and I am so glad so many more women are brave enough and proud enough of their bodies to do these portraits now. We are only pregnant for a very short time so why not commemorate this wonder of nature and be proud of it.
