When I was contacted to do this couple’s maternity session, they were very specific about what they wanted. Since they never did an engagement shoot, they wanted their relationship highlighted and they wanted me to capture them as they were. So in love and so excited about their newest addition! Even though we prayed for snow, we didn’t anticipate it being as cold as it was the day of the shoot. It was a cold 22 degrees and man were they so brave!
It was such a beautiful day at Longwood Gardens but they toughed it out and we trekked all over the park looking for different locations to shoot at. By the end of the shoot, my fingers and toes were numb but we didn’t care. We knew that we had gotten some gorgeous shots and they were maternity portraits that this couple would treasure for a lifetime.
People often think that maternity portraits have to be traditional but they don’t always have to be in-studio sessions. Outdoor sessions are just as fun even in the snow if you brave the cold. I think that when this little boy grows up and sees these images, he will treasure them as much as his parents do.
