How to style a Neutral Newborn Session
For my newborn sessions, I always ask parents for a photo of baby’s nursery, and thoughts on favorite colors or colors they decorate with. Some parents decided on a mostly neutral color palette for their baby’s set-ups. I am LOVING Neutral Newborn Sessions these days. The creamy colors looks beautiful against newborn skin tones. I usually do newborn sessions 5-14 days after birth. The babies are so snuggly and sleepy and easy to pose at that age. However, I always have a few tricks up my sleeve for those babies that come in a little grumpy. For more newborn looks and photo ideas, please check out the SugaShoc Instagram page.

Props make a photo pop
I love to pose the newborns in all sorts of things from buckets to bowls to baskets. It accentuates how tiny they are for this short time. Adding tons of layers, and textures of the same shade truly adds depth and beauty to the photo.
Macro Shots
Although I adore a great sleeper, I also love to get a lot of awake shots too. Usually, at this age, when baby is awake, it’s because they are hungry or uncomfortable. It is rare to get a cute awake shot so I thrive to capture the happier awake moments. I love to get macro shots when baby is awake. It is a great way to remember those tiny details we so often forget when baby is older. Just look at these gorgeous eyes. The eyes truly pop in the neutral newborn sessions. Accessorize
What would a neutral newborn session be without the accessories? Headbands and cute hats are always a favorite but it is extra sweet when the parents can provide a little something special from home. Whether it be a snuggly animal, family heirloom or a sweet gift from a loved one, it truly makes the picture extra sweet. Family Portraits
While the baby is obviously the star of the Newborn session, I also feel it is essential to get some shots of the new family unit as a whole. Pictures of everyone together, and individual parent baby photos as well as siblings are all included in a Full Newborn Session.
